When Peace Feels Too Quiet

Dear Friends,
There’s a kind of silence that used to make me nervous.
You know the kind. When the world slows down for a minute. You’re not in a fight. You’re not trying to fix something. The texts stop. The pressure dips. It’s just… calm.
And for a lot of us guys, especially those wired for action—veterans, protectors, problem-solvers, get-it-done types—that calm can feel almost dangerous. Unfamiliar. Like something must be wrong if everything’s not burning down.
But here’s the truth: peace isn’t the problem. It’s that we’ve forgotten how to live in it.
If you’ve trained on a range, you know there’s a stillness between shots that matters. That’s where you breathe. That’s where you reset your grip. That’s where you focus before the next round. The same applies in life. But instead of leaning into that stillness, we treat it like dead space. We fill it. Distract from it. Rush past it.
But peace is the space where clarity gets built.
It’s where wisdom settles in. It’s where you stop running from your thoughts and start facing them. And that’s a big deal—because most of the battles that throw us off aren’t out there. They’re in here. Inside.
Guys, Guns and God isn’t just about being prepared for what’s coming. It’s about being stable in who you are. That means training your soul, not just your reflexes. That means knowing how to hold your ground—not just against threats, but against temptation, pride, anger, and confusion. And you don’t build that kind of inner strength without learning how to walk in peace. Proverbs says:
“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.”
Proverbs 14:30, NLT
That hits me. Because when I’m not walking in peace, I feel it everywhere—tight shoulders, short fuse, distracted thoughts, poor decisions. But when I’m dialed in with God, and I’ve made space for real peace… things shift. Not easier. But steadier.
Peace doesn’t mean weakness. It doesn’t mean inaction. It means you’re not ruled by panic. You’re not flinching at every headline or riding the highs and lows of every mood. You’re grounded. And you’re dangerous in all the right ways.
If you’re in a season where things feel calm—don’t sabotage it just to feel normal again. Don’t go looking for a fight just because you’re uncomfortable with stillness. That space may be exactly what God wants to use to prepare you for what’s next.
Let that peace reset your aim.
You don’t need noise to prove you’re tough. You don’t need chaos to justify your calling. God’s not just in the action—He’s in the stillness too. The range gets quiet before every shot. So does the soul. And that quiet is not wasted.
It’s where men get sharpened.
Stay encouraged—your story is still unfolding.
