Reflect and Grow this Autumn

Hello Friends!

As the leaves change and the air cools, autumn offers a perfect time to pause and reflect on the past year. It’s a moment to acknowledge our growth and express gratitude for the experiences that have shaped us.

In your reflections, are you noticing elements that can help transform your life, like:

  • Finding Inspiration to grow and improve personally.
  • Learning to Focus on personal responsibility.
  • Practicing Self-Control in your words and actions.
  • Gaining Knowledge for positive reinforcement.

If you aren’t seeing improvement or mastery in these areas, yet you’re actively practicing them, it’s worth asking why. But if these skills are making a difference, be grateful and celebrate the progress. Take time to share how reflecting on both your successes and challenges has fueled your personal development.

Growth Through Spiritual Reflection

Take a moment to reflect on the Proverbs and life lessons that have guided you this year and see how they’ve taken shape in your life.

“As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.”
PROVERBS 27:19 (NLT)

Just as water reflects our physical appearance, our heart reflects who we truly are. Self-examination is a powerful tool that reveals what’s happening deep within us and how we come across to others.

Reflecting helps us grow closer to God and better understand our purpose. By looking inward, we can identify areas where we need improvement and seek God’s grace to guide us. This process of self-reflection should inspire action, leading to genuine transformation.

Through honest self-assessment, seeking divine guidance, and committing to meaningful change, we can grow spiritually and live a more fulfilled, purposeful life.

Real Stories, Real Lessons

When thinking about personal and ongoing reflection, I liken it to adjusting your sights in life, much like adjusting sights in shooting. Webster’s dictionary defines “adjust” as altering something to make it accurate or suitable. In shooting, it means correcting the gun’s sight to ensure the aim is on point.

Where might you need to adjust your sight? Like me, you may find several areas needing fine-tuning, and just when you think you’ve hit a new level, life presents another challenge or season that calls for change. It’s a continuous process. My wife and I call it “doing life.” Accepting this fact helps you embrace it, and Proverbs becomes a compass for life’s fundamentals. Read it, remember it, meditate on it, and put it into practice.

We can either drift through life reacting to whatever comes our way or choose to live with purpose. The choice is yours.

In a world full of options, opinions, and noise, it’s easy to lose your way. However, you can stay grounded by holding firm to your beliefs. When life throws distractions your way, staying resolute in your convictions helps you stand strong. And when you feel overwhelmed, keep pushing forward, keep your head up, and be ready to adapt if needed.

While reflecting, consider these questions to help focus on your values, convictions, and responsibilities:

  • What do you stand for?
  • What do you stand against?
  • Have you ever had to reposition your aim while holding a gun?
  • How do you handle life’s ups and downs?

Do you stand firm or step back when life hits you with conflicting messages? Reflecting gives you perspective on handling changing situations, allowing you to stay true to yourself and avoid being swayed by trends or expectations. Instead, you set the target. Focus on standing up for what matters most and shaping the life you desire.

I encourage you to find a journal or notebook – something easily accessible that you can write in and store for future reference. Keep it handy by your bedside, or even take it with you to the shooting range.

A journal isn’t just a place to record what you do; it’s where you capture the lessons learned, your mistakes, how you reacted, and what steps you’ve taken to improve. It’s a powerful tool that helps you reflect on where you are today and where you want to be tomorrow.

Purposeful journaling can help you recognize your choices, identify habits, build awareness of your growth, and foster gratitude for your achievements.

Whether you want to improve or celebrate your accomplishments, I’d love for you to join us at our Author’s Celebration Event. Bring a friend or loved one along on this journey – you won’t want to miss it!

Best regards,
